Stories Begin with a Single Page
Writing, journaling, and storytelling practices that help us reconnect with ourselves.
I love writing. Always have. For me, writing isn’t just about putting words together — it’s a way of reconnecting with myself.
When I write, I feel anchored in the present, reminded of my past, and gently nudged toward my future. Writing bridges the versions of me I’ve been and the woman I’m still becoming.
The Many Places My Stories Live
I tell stories in many forms — each one giving me a different lens on my life:
- Photobooks filled with words and pictures that preserve family memories
- Journals where I reflect, question, and dream
- Bullet journals that blend organization with creativity
- This blog where I open my heart and share pieces of my journey with you
Some of these stories are deeply personal and have never been shared with another soul. Others find their way into the hands of readers. But no matter where they live, they are all part of me.
Books that Tell My Story
Several years ago, I published my first children’s book, Amazing Grace – A True Story of a Classroom Kitty. That little book taught me what it feels like to put my words into the world — vulnerable, thrilling, and worth every step.
Now, I’m working on another children’s book, this time about my dog Harry. If all goes as planned, it will be available spring 2026.
And most morning, before the day really begins, I carve out time for a bigger writing project — one that may take years to finish. It’s a long, slow work of the heart, but every page feels like a step closer to a dream I’ve held for a very long time.
Why Small Daily Moments Matter
Writing doesn’t always look like grand gestures or long hours. Most days, it’s small and steady: a few lines in a journal, a quick reflection in a bullet journal, or a page drafted before breakfast.
These daily practices remind me that progress isn’t always dramatic. It’s built word by word, page by page, moment by moment.
Because every story — whether it’s a novel, a blog post, or a memory tucked into a photobook — begins with a single page.
If you feel the nudge to write, don’t wait for the perfect time or for inspiration to strike. Begin with what you have, where you are, right now.
Open a journal. Start a blog. Write down a memory. Capture a single sentence.
Your story matters. And the page is waiting.
3 Easy Ways to Begin Your Own Story Today
Write One Sentence a Day
Don’t worry about filling a page. Start with a single sentence about your day, your feelings, or a moment you don’t want to forget.
Pair a Photo with a Memory
Choose a favourite photo and jot down the story behind it — what you saw, felt, or remember most. This makes storytelling easy and meaningful.
Set a 5-Minute Timer
Open a notebook or your computer, set a timer for 5 minutes, and write without stopping. Don’t edit — just let the words flow.
Because sometimes, all it takes to unlock your story is the courage to begin with a single page.
